Remembering

As  President of the 13th Armored Division Association I would like to take the opportunity to offer and suggest the website “Relighting Us.”

“Relighting Us” is all about memories. Its design is intended as a place for thoughtful and deep rooted family stories to be placed in a form for all to see and be refreshed. The emphasis is on the word family. We are family…

Refreshed in a sense that allows us, as a 13th Armored Division family to share with each other, and more importantly our succeeding generations, stories of the true essence of fatherhood and its deeds, WWII was a period where many were called to protect and defend their precious families. It was truly a “do or die” situation for us as a nation of families.

Many books have been written that deal with the exploits and sacrifices made in that war. They are examples of how we should do our duty and live. They should be models for others to write and tell about those who sacrificed and died for them. Tell the stories for two main reasons. To honor everyone who contributed, and to provide examples of how to live in a world of evil and turmoil. Examples much needed today.

Each 13th Armored Division family has one or more persons who can write these stories about the 13th Armored Division. They are prized possessions that can be shared. Their printing and sharing will set guiding examples for all generations, especially our youngest. Each family has a lot of those who benefit. We can share them by placing them on “Relighting Us.” I am dedicating a special link for them, and will be placing 13th Armored Division stories on it.

Three of the latest are: “Action at Bridge at Inn River” by Jack Campey, “Goodbye- Hello” and “He Ain’t Heavy,” by Bob Whelan.
